Join the next chapter of your child’s soccer journey with RVC Soccer Club.
Rockville Centre Soccer Club is excited to announce that our 2025–2026 Travel Team Trialist & Tryout Period will take place from May 12th through May 23rd. Whether your child is a current player, a rising U9 (2017 Birth Year), or brand new to travel soccer, this is a critical time for evaluation and team placement for the upcoming Fall and Spring seasons for players born between 2017 and 2008)
We know the process can feel overwhelming, especially for new families, so we want to break it down as clearly as possible.
🟦 What is the Trialist Period?
The Trialist Period is a two-week window where our Professional Trainers evaluate players for team placement across all age groups.
It includes:
Trials for current travel players (U10–U19 / or 2016 to 2008 birth year)) and aspiring players looking to join existing teams.
Tryouts for rising U9 players (2017 birth year) who are new to travel soccer.
All evaluations are led by trusted Professional Trainers from our partner organizations and overseen by our Director of Coaching. Parents are not permitted to observe sessions to ensure a fair and focused evaluation environment.
🔷 Trials for Current & Aspiring U10–U19 Players
May 12–22, 2025
During the Trialist period, all current RVC travel players will be evaluated by our Professional Trainers as part of regular training sessions. Evaluations are based on a holistic view of each player, including their overall performance during the past season, trialist period performance, as well as commitment to practices and games over the past season, and lastly contributions toward team culture.
In some cases, players may be asked to participate in training sessions with a different team within their age group. This is part of our team calibration process, which helps our Trainers assess how a player performs in a different team environment and ensure the best fit for both individual development and team balance.
Important: Being asked to train with another team does not indicate a guaranteed change in placement — it’s one of many tools used to make informed decisions.
Aspiring players (those not currently rostered but interested in joining a travel team) will be invited to join training sessions during this same period. They will be evaluated using the same process and standards as current players and may be moved around (if there are multiple teams in that age group) throughout the process. For new players looking to join RVCSC, it is helpful to attend more than 1 trialist session (we recommend a minimum of 2 sessions attended)Â
🔹 Tryouts for Rising U9 Players (2017 Birth Year)
May 12 & 13, 2025Â (Rain Dates: May 19 & 20)
4:30–5:45 PM – 2017 Girls @ Tighe Field (1 Windsor Ave, RVC)
5:45–7:00 PM – 2017 Boys @ Tighe Field (1 Windsor Ave, RVC)
These sessions are a great first step for young players entering the world of travel soccer. Our Trainers evaluate players across a range of categories including ball control, game awareness, teamwork, effort, and attitude. Team placements will be communicated shortly after the Tryout period concludes.
